| Аннотация | Kalinga Magha’s invasion has been often interpreted asa mysterious figure in Sri Lankan history, whose whereabouts were not widely discussed in the historical chronicles. Yet, his invasion that unleashed the utter destruction upon the Rajarata civilization was enormous as it altered the corpus of civilization completely.The arguments stemming from conventional historians generally portray Magha’s invasion of Sri Lankain 1215A.D as another invasion, which caused a mere transition of kingdoms of the Sinhalese.Although the effect of Magha’sinvasion did cause the transition of the kingdoms, it overarching influence were much deeper. This article hypothesises that the magnitude of Kalinga Magha’s invasion of 1215 A.D was a paradigms This article hift in the Sri Lankan polity as it completely ended the old order filled with irrigation grandeur in the Rajarata civilization.The subsequent period pushed the island to backwardness much like the Mongols altered the history of Russia by destroying the Kyevan Rus polity. |
